SUICIDE SILENCE Singer Comments On BILLBOARD Chart Debut

SUICIDE SILENCE made a huge statement to the metal world this past week as their highly acclaimed debut offering, "The Cleansing", entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #94 (with first-week sales of 7,100),which marks the highest debut ever for a new Century Media artist.

SUICIDE SILENCE is definitely not for the weak of heart, which was further proven as MTV has officially "banned" the group's graphic new video for the track "The Price of Beauty", deeming it "too lyrically and visually explicit," according to a press release. Acclaimed director Matt Bass (THE ESOTERIC, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) created an intense video that matches the band's unabashed energy, which ultimately resulted in a brutal portrait that some might feel it too "vivid" for national television. Commented vocalist Mitch Lucker: "It felt fucking amazing to have the Billboard news broken to us! It also felt great knowing that all of the non-stop touring and going fucking nuts every night on stage had such a positive effect on our first week sales. It definitely was not handed to us. We worked our asses off for it and will continue to do so because it's what we love you do. Without our fans we would not be anywhere and SUICIDE SILENCE loves all of you!
